STATE OF THE ART EQUIPMENT
3 Tesla MRI Scanner
Auckland's first 3 Tesla magnetic resonance (MRI) scanner has been installed at 101 Remuera Road, Newmarket. The 12.2 tonne super-conducting magnet was lifted into its new premises by crane. The 3T scanner delivers much greater anatomical and functional diagnostic capability in such areas as the brain, spine, bones and joints, cartilage, breast, heart and blood vessels.
Double the power translates into four times the diagnostic signal-to-noise ratio, enabling much higher spatial resolution at greater speed. Functional brain studies (fMRI), brain tract mapping, spectroscopy, blood perfusion and diffusion, cartilage mapping and breast MRI are some of the many diagnostic and research applications this scanner performs.
Charges will remain similar to those being currently charged for 1.5 Tesla scans.
CT
Our 64 slice CT scanner enables incredibly fast imaging times, while significantly reducing radiation dose to our patients compared to other multislice CT scanners. It incorporates the very latest advances in hardware and software and opens new areas of investigation in cardiac and vascular CT, coronary angiography, carotid, craniocerebral and peripheral CT angiography as well as coronary artery calcium scoring.
Virtual colonoscopy, virtual laryngoscopy and tracheobronchoscopy are now readily available.
3-D colour CT imaging of musculoskeletal structures, including tendons and ligaments, is reminiscent of the illustrations in Gray's Anatomy.
Scintigraphy
Our dual-head scintiscanner has superb resolution and image quality second to none. State-of-the-art image-fusion capability enables the production of fused scintiscan images superimposed on CT and MR images.
MRI
All our MRI scanners are maintained at the cutting edge of hi tech diagnostic imaging, delivering superb resolution and speed.
